About the Manor

Thanks to Linda B for providing us with some fun facts about the Manor:

  • The manor was a large fruit orchard constructed in 1929
  • The redwood paneling was hand-picked. (The original owners had redwood forests and a lumbar yard)
  • There are 8 bedrooms and 6 baths with 6 fireplaces, with only the great room fire place being used
  • In 1933, the manor was sold to Betty and Duke Englehardt. They had four children
  • During World War II, they hosted for amputees
  • There was a trainset in the "playroom attic" to help soldiers keep their mind off of the war
  • There are original tiles in all the bathrooms.
